The two sang and played guitar, and had been friends since they were 6 years old. At a Sunday youth group, they began making music in an indie pop band called the Pumpkin Fairies, with bassist Mike Cottle and drummer Adrian Sell. When the Pumpkin Fairies disbanded, Slowdive formed, also including drummer Adrian Sell and Sell's friend, bassist Nick Chaplin. A third guitarist named Christian Savill, previously of the band Eternal, joined when he became the only person to answer an advert from the band. The ad called for a female guitarist, but Savill wanted to join so badly he offered to wear a dress. He was subsequently recruited. The name \"Slowdive\" was inspired by a dream Chaplin experienced.","cover_art":"https://trackerhub.cc/img/b745dc16baa16d83a931d972890ea0cb","color":"#b59b74","text_color":"#ffe6d3","tracks":[{"name":{"raw":"🏆 What's So Funny? Recorded in 1992, and released June 1st 1993 by Creation Records. On its initial release, Souvlaki was greeted with tepid reviews from critics. It has since received retrospective critical acclaim and has been hailed as a classic of the shoegaze genre. Prior to the writing of Souvlaki, Slowdive co-vocalists and guitarists Rachel Goswell and Neil Halstead had ended their relationship and Halstead began to spend more time writing songs alone, a process that had been completed by the full band in the past. The album's title was taken from a skit by American comedy duo The Jerky Boys, where one of the duo prank telephone calls a hotel manager asking him to perform sexual acts on his wife. Upon learning the manager is Greek, the caller says: \"My wife loves that Greek shit... She'll suck your cock like souvlaki\".","cover_art":"https://trackerhub.cc/img/e1a3ccf7bc67b169a9f176e4b2ec1d23","color":"#dcdb96","text_color":"#ffffff","tracks":[{"name":{"raw":"AB [V1]\n(prod. Though Slowdive had begun preparing for an expected tour of the United Kingdom in support of Pygmalion, a week after the album's release Creation dropped Slowdive from its roster, and by the end of the year the band had split.","cover_art":"https://trackerhub.cc/img/baa7129e23f1e73e0494f306bf3ebd6d","color":"#ffffff","text_color":"#000000","tracks":[{"name":{"raw":"Cargo [V1]","title":"Cargo [V1]"},"notes":"Instrumental-only version.
